Guess what happened to me!

You won't believe what happened to me just over the last two weeks! First, I had a fire at my house and I was IN the house. Daddy rescued me and I stank like BBQ pork ribs for a couple of days.

Smoke coming out of every opening. Firefighters to the rescue.
Up in smoke - daddy saved me from the house. I knew he was a hero!

Then, we had to move to a hotel with no lawn or ivy for me to pee on.

Bored at the Inn.
Then we moved into this new home with lawn, but without any squirrels in the yard. And then a big snow storm hit town and there was, once again, no lawn for me to pee on. I actually dove into the snow, dug a hole in it and couldn't find any grass underneath, so I had no other choice but to pee on the new comforters that mommy had to buy. Guess she wasn't happy about that - I could tell from her yelling and screaming.

No grass to pee on - bummer!

Now, two weeks later, I have a bunch of new toys, daddy took me to Sleepy's to help him buy a new mattress, we are still looking for a new chair with a high enough headrest for me to sleep on and they give me treats all the time because I am still traumatized from being in the smokey house (I wonder how long I can play the part of traumatized puppy!?)

Need a new chair to hang out with daddy.
They tell us that it will take about a year before we can move back into our old house, but I heard that we will go to visit often and that we will do a lot of renovation. I am already rallying for a bigger window seat over the radiator, a place for my bowls on soft carpeting (hate the tile floor in this rental house), better access to the backyard, a treat dispenser in the kitchen cabinet and a big La-Z-Boy chair for myself.

A big shout out to Dr Jeff from Greenlawn Animal Hospital and his team for providing me with super anti-anxiety medication (I was flying high for a couple of days), Ellen from Happy Dog Training for calming my mommy down and giving her good advice as to how to stop me from peeing on the floor, guys from the Huntington Manor Fire Department for making sure that the house is still standing and to my buddy Bailey Sullivan and her family for giving us shelter and for not yelling at me when I pooped on their floor - twice.

Keep your fingers crossed for us and I will keep you posted along the way.
Love, Ellie

So cold!

Hi there. I am not sure how the weather is where you are, but here on my island, it is freaking freeeeeezing. So I decided to stay in bed today. Nothing better than to pull the blanket over your head, have a cozy warm belly and just stick your feet out from time to time to check the outside temperature. If it wasn't for the unavoidable pee-trip into the backyard, I swear to you, I would stay in bed all winter long. I bet I could convince mom to serve dinner in bed if I promise not to slobber....
Trust me, I really only have to pee once a day when it is this cold outside...

Thought I would help...

Hi there!
Me and the object of my desire.
With Christmas behind me, all my new toys unwrapped, I thought I'd help mommy take the Christmas tree down. Serious, they always talk of Santa's Little Helper and because Santa was so good to me this year, I really, really only wanted to help when I took that shiny sparkly red Christmas ornament off the tree. Took me quite a while. I had to hit it with my nose until it moved closer to the end of the branch and then I had to grab it with my snout and pull it off. Might possibly somehow mistakenly by accident grabbed it a bit to hard - the freakin' thing broke apart and there was red sparkly stuff all over the carpet. But I didn't give up. Not me, oh no, sir. I tried to help with another one - there were so many of them on the tree. But for some reason it made quite some noise when the stupid thing bounced of the carpet and onto the wooden floors and mom came running. Telling from her yelling and screaming, my help was not appreciated at all. I was expelled from the room, the remaining ornaments were hung higher up on the tree and mommy pulled her brand new vacuum cleaner out to take care of the mess.

Have to improve my skills for next year. Don't want to end up on the naughty list!

Who is "Sandy"?

I think there is a new girl in town. Mommy and daddy kept talking about a "Sandy" all day today and that she is some sort of hurricane. Must be some powerful girl if mom compares her to a storm... But they do not seem to like her. It even looked as if mommy is trying to get away from her: She packed a bag for daddy and herself and put one of my toys, a chewy bone and my food in my little suitcase that I normally take to the office, when I go there with her.
My humans are behaving a bit suspicious...
I am convinced that they are planning to leave once this "Sandy" shows up. Or at least we are moving into the basement. Mom has put all kinds of water and food, her documents, some blankets and even a bag of my treats down there. Not so sure that I like the basement, but if this "Sandy" is really such a bitch, then I'd rather get over my fear of the cellar.
Oh, and the weather is really horrible, too. The streets are covered in leaves and I almost peed on the porch instead of on the lawn because I could not see the difference. And, hell, is it windy! I might have to stay inside for a while. My ears are flying in the wind while I am just standing still.
OK, gotta go. Mom just said that "Sandy" will be making landfall soon - must be one heavy girl - I'd better hide! See ya.

Daddy and me

Can't tell yet if I sniff squirrel or possum....
You know, sometimes, after a long day of chasing squirrels, digging bones, long-lining in the park, playing tug and sniffing the yard, the best thing in the world is to have some Daddy-and-Me time. We sit on the front porch, play on the floor or just lay on the bed and watch TV.
Watching "Ice Road Truckers" with Daddy!
Life is good! - If only he would bring the bag of treats with him.....

Me and Chuck

Mom and Dad and Chuck and I and dude with beard.
Just went to my very first "Cow Harbor Day" in Northport and guess who else was there? Senator Charles "Chuck" Schumer! Honestly, I had no idea who he was until he introduced himself to mom and dad and his aides asked if they wanted to have their picture taken with him. So, because I didn't have anywhere else to go, I stayed for the picture and let him pet me without biting his hand. Yeah, I am such a good girl.
By the way, I have no idea who the dude with the beard in the background is. Could be Billy Joel, you never know!
And then, just 200 yards away from Chuck, the people from Republican Senator Marcellino wanted to have me in the picture with him as well. But, as much as I like having my picture taken - not with a Republican! I have my principles!
On a side note: Found two potato chips, a piece of a hot dog bun and some funnel cake on the street. Yeah! And the hot dogs from the folks at Trinity Episcopalian Church were the first and best I have ever had.
I will be back next year.

Office Girl

Hanging out in the office...
I gotta tell you: I really, really don't understand why humans go to the office everyday. I mean, just last week, daddy had to go away for business. And because they did not want to leave me in my Alcatraz-like prison-crate all day (thank you!) and because they did not trust me in the house by myself (was it the I-pod cable I ate?), mommy took me to work with her. I had been there before and I am telling you: There is nothing, nothing more boring than an office. People are sitting at a desk, talk into a machine or hit a piece of plastic all day and there is seriously no fun involved.
So I did what I do best: I shredded some paper that was laying around - mommy works in a stationery company), tried to eat some of the furniture, pretended that I needed to pee every 10 minutes until mommy yelled at me for lying and I successfully grabbed a candy out of the chief-human's bag (I was caught and they took the candy away from me).
Once, mommy let me out in the backyard, I discovered some kittens, but they didn't want to play with me either and ran away, whenever I started running towards them. Bummer.
So then I went on doing what I heard most people do in the office: I took a nap. And another nap, and another....
... not getting anything done!
I think I am not really an office girl. I like going to work with daddy in the truck much better. I look pretty awesome in a truck and the people at Home Depot and Nassau Suffolk Lumber always have treats for me.
Will work on my career in construction now. Do they make hard hats for dogs?
