My little secret

Here is a secret I have never told anybody and you might think I am crazy but: I am a cat lady. Seriously, all my life I have wanted a cat. I wanted to play with it and love it and hug it and chase it around. But for some reason, cats never liked me. They run away whenever I want to tell them how much I love them. They hiss at me, when I want to arrange for a play date. They try to hit me, when I want to gently nibble their ear. What's with these things? A few weeks ago I was finally able to come closer to the object of my desire, but the stupid thing didn't want to play but just wanted to do a stare down with me. So we looked each other deep in the eye, I growled in anticipation of some playtime and approached her with a friendly bark, but she must have spoken a different language and misunderstood my politeness for attacking behavior. Silly cat! Well, at least I won the stare-down-contest. Maybe I should give up on the cats and start looking for a meaningful relationship with a bunny....

Located and approached......

.....came closer and offered quality playtime....

Almost got to touch her. I was so close....

Vote for me!

Please vote for me here!!!.
Hi everybody
So mommy entered me at my first Beauty Pageant! It is called "Click the Cutest" on People Magazine´s website and here is how it goes: They put my picture next to the photo of some fluffy little puppy thing and now they want readers to decide who is cuter, by simply clicking on the picture of the #1 cutest thing. Yes, the other puppy isn't shabby, but don't you think that I look super adorable and like the sweetest thing?
So pleeeaaazzze, click here for me - you can of course click more than once! You can vote until late tonight, Tuesday, May 21.
Thanks. Love, Ellie

Update:
Thanks, guys, for voting for me. Sadly, we didn't win this time. The fluffy thing won by snout length. But I am not getting discouraged by this minor setback. Maybe I am just better with pageants where I can wear a costume or where they are looking for the best "dig-a-hole-eat-a-bone-jump-on-the-table"-dog. Until next time.

My Service Team

My favorite vet team - Dr. Jeff and his girls.
Did you really think I could look as cute as I do without any maintenance? No way. A sophisticated beagle girl like me has her own service team! I get my pedicures at The Soapy Dog, my beauty treatments at home from mommy, daddy is my personal trainer who takes me for runs and on long walks on the beach and when I don’t feel well, mommy takes me to Greenlawn Animal Hospital. Dr. Jeff Garretson and his team really take good care of me – though sometimes they stick a needle in my butt or put a flashlight in my ear. What are they looking for? Do they want to take my DNA to clone me because I am so smart and cute? Do they think I am hiding a coin in my ear? But they seem to like me. They make me feel better when I have an itchy ear or a belly ache, they tell me how pretty I am, they put me on a table and stare at me in awe, they calm mommy down when she calls them hysterically screaming because I ate a tea bag or a ball pen or a bug and once, one of the girls at Dr. Jeff’s office even gave me a Cheez Doodle. I am telling you: I like going there. Maybe, if I am on my best behavior, they will stop sticking needles in my butt some day and double up on the Cheez Doodles.

Why iron if you have me?

Do you know why mommy spends all this time ironing her clothes when I am so good at just laying on top of the pile of fresh, clean laundry, flattening it with my tiny butt? So difficult to understand these humans...

Me multitasking: Sleeping and working/ironing at the same time.
On top of it, they delivered all the clothes back to the house that were smoked damaged and are now clean and shiny again - but why did they have to wrap it all in plastic? That made it so difficult for me to get to the chewy parts of the dry cleaner hangers and the tissue paper that they stuff the sleeves of mommy's fancy shirts with.
Love, Ellie
Piles of clothes in the living room. Not allowed to eat the plastic.

P.S.: Been working hard on that smile in the first picture! Can you see my pearly whites? Arm and Hammer "Nubbies" with baking soda - taste like peanut butter, makes teeth shiny-white.

Guess what happened to me!

You won't believe what happened to me just over the last two weeks! First, I had a fire at my house and I was IN the house. Daddy rescued me and I stank like BBQ pork ribs for a couple of days.

Smoke coming out of every opening. Firefighters to the rescue.
Up in smoke - daddy saved me from the house. I knew he was a hero!

Then, we had to move to a hotel with no lawn or ivy for me to pee on.

Bored at the Inn.
Then we moved into this new home with lawn, but without any squirrels in the yard. And then a big snow storm hit town and there was, once again, no lawn for me to pee on. I actually dove into the snow, dug a hole in it and couldn't find any grass underneath, so I had no other choice but to pee on the new comforters that mommy had to buy. Guess she wasn't happy about that - I could tell from her yelling and screaming.

No grass to pee on - bummer!

Now, two weeks later, I have a bunch of new toys, daddy took me to Sleepy's to help him buy a new mattress, we are still looking for a new chair with a high enough headrest for me to sleep on and they give me treats all the time because I am still traumatized from being in the smokey house (I wonder how long I can play the part of traumatized puppy!?)

Need a new chair to hang out with daddy.
They tell us that it will take about a year before we can move back into our old house, but I heard that we will go to visit often and that we will do a lot of renovation. I am already rallying for a bigger window seat over the radiator, a place for my bowls on soft carpeting (hate the tile floor in this rental house), better access to the backyard, a treat dispenser in the kitchen cabinet and a big La-Z-Boy chair for myself.

A big shout out to Dr Jeff from Greenlawn Animal Hospital and his team for providing me with super anti-anxiety medication (I was flying high for a couple of days), Ellen from Happy Dog Training for calming my mommy down and giving her good advice as to how to stop me from peeing on the floor, guys from the Huntington Manor Fire Department for making sure that the house is still standing and to my buddy Bailey Sullivan and her family for giving us shelter and for not yelling at me when I pooped on their floor - twice.

Keep your fingers crossed for us and I will keep you posted along the way.
Love, Ellie

So cold!

Hi there. I am not sure how the weather is where you are, but here on my island, it is freaking freeeeeezing. So I decided to stay in bed today. Nothing better than to pull the blanket over your head, have a cozy warm belly and just stick your feet out from time to time to check the outside temperature. If it wasn't for the unavoidable pee-trip into the backyard, I swear to you, I would stay in bed all winter long. I bet I could convince mom to serve dinner in bed if I promise not to slobber....
Trust me, I really only have to pee once a day when it is this cold outside...

Thought I would help...

Hi there!
Me and the object of my desire.
With Christmas behind me, all my new toys unwrapped, I thought I'd help mommy take the Christmas tree down. Serious, they always talk of Santa's Little Helper and because Santa was so good to me this year, I really, really only wanted to help when I took that shiny sparkly red Christmas ornament off the tree. Took me quite a while. I had to hit it with my nose until it moved closer to the end of the branch and then I had to grab it with my snout and pull it off. Might possibly somehow mistakenly by accident grabbed it a bit to hard - the freakin' thing broke apart and there was red sparkly stuff all over the carpet. But I didn't give up. Not me, oh no, sir. I tried to help with another one - there were so many of them on the tree. But for some reason it made quite some noise when the stupid thing bounced of the carpet and onto the wooden floors and mom came running. Telling from her yelling and screaming, my help was not appreciated at all. I was expelled from the room, the remaining ornaments were hung higher up on the tree and mommy pulled her brand new vacuum cleaner out to take care of the mess.

Have to improve my skills for next year. Don't want to end up on the naughty list!
